An important role in the preparation of the materials is played, as the name itself suggests, by the WASHING.

This step is essential in order to grant the elimination of the polluting fractions, just like grime, contaminants, dust, soil coming from or the utilisation or the stocking of the plastics themselves.

Even if other machineries, like floatation tanks or spin dryers, are recognised to play a partial role in washing, the main washing work is performed by the washing machines, both horizontal and vertical hot water ones.

Hot water washing, with possible additives, is usually used in particular cases, above all when dealing with PET bottles for completely eliminating labels and glues, as in this sector the cleaning standards required by law are very restrictive, especially when the future application will be in the food market.



These industrial horizontal washing machines, taking advantages of the peculiar design of the rotor and its high speed (1.500 rpm), grant very high rates of cleaning, both with rigid and film plastics.

The dirty fraction is expelled through the holes in the sieve and conveyed with water flux; the washed material is usually extracted by mean of an auger. The peculiar friction effect along with the sturdiness of the rotor itself grant high performances even when dealing with particularly complicated pollutants (paints, chemicals), without needing to add any specific additives.

These washing machines are among the most effective on the market also in terms of capacity, also thanks to their sturdy structure, granting high capacity also with traditionally hard materials just like film or stretch.


This kind of machine is used in particular cases, especially when high rates of cleaning are required, even by law, for eliminating pollutants like glues, labels, adhesives. It’s the typical case of PET recycling.
